Royal Group’s Cellcard once again claims fastest “Download Speed Experience” in the Cambodia Mobile Network Experience Report 2023 by Opensignal.

Based on the August 2023 report, “Cellcard users continue to observe the fastest overall download speeds in Cambodia.” Cellcard scored 22Mbps, putting it ahead of its competitors, Smart Axiata (18.7Mbps) and Metfone Viettel (13Mbps).

Cellcard, who claimed the title earlier this year, and is re-awarded the accolade in the most recent Opensignal report, also received 3 joint awards for Video Experience, Live Video Experience and Availability.

The win is attributed to continuous efforts to support CEO, Simon Perkins’ vision towards achieving excellence in network performance.

In 2021, the same year Perkins took the helm of the company, Cellcard unveiled plans to expand its network across the country, focussing on Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Speu, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum and Preah Sihanouk. That work continues.
“We are working closely with our key network partners ZTE, Telemobile and Telcotech to add new sites across key provinces, and improving connectivity in residential areas,” said Simon Perkins.
This year, Cellcard rolled out the ZTE Carrier Expansion up to a maximum of 4CA reaching speeds of up to 350Mbps and added additional sectors on congested cell sites to relieve congestion – an initiative with the intent of enhancing the internet experience of its customers. As of July, this year, the company reported that it has upgraded its 4G coverage services in 106 new locations across 10 Provinces. This includes 75 sites in Phnom Penh, 11 sites in Kandal, 4 sites in Siem Reap, 4 sites in Takeo, 3 sites in Sihanoukville, 3 sites in Kampong Speu, as well as new sites in Bantey Meanchey, Pursat and Koh Kong.

With the most recent service improvement in capacity expansions, Cellcard has thus far established 309 locations for improved mobile service in Cambodia. ZTE also completed the introduction of VOLTE (Voice Over LTE) ready for commercial launch this year and is now in preparations to provide VOWIFI nationwide in the beginning of next year.
