Phnom Penh, January 29:

Whether you’re an avid fan of the Social Enterprise educational, interactive and fun Launchpad series or entirely new to it, here’s your last chance to sign up for this workshop and bring your business ideas to life while creating positive social impact!

The Launchpad series, which is organized by Social Enterprise Cambodia and brought to you by Cellcard winds down in the capital of Phnom Penh on Jan 29-30-31. To be held at Zaman University, the last Launchpad initiative follows in the wake of last year’s successful series. Aimed at creating awareness and inspiring social entrepreneurship among locals, Launchpad programs are delivered in Khmer to reach and benefit primarily Khmer participants.

The initiative provides participants an overview of social entrepreneurship in nine practical and interactive steps. Workshops feature talks and mentoring from successful Khmer entrepreneurs on topics that include identifying and tackling social or environmental problems, creating effective solutions, developing a strong and innovative business model and building a sustainable financial plan.

Each Launchpad team will be supported by experienced mentors and provided successful Cambodian case studies as examples during the 56-hour program. At the end of the workshop, participants will pitch their business ideas before a panel of successful entrepreneurs and investors, who will select the best proposals.

Winning proposals from last year’s four Launchpad programs in Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh include a service center that educates and cares for children aged from 3 to 5 to allow their parents to focus more on their work or business. Another winning idea was the manufacture of bamboo chopsticks, which focuses on a core value of providing employment opportunities to communities by encouraging them to plant bamboo shoots on their land.
