Startup Weekend is a 54 hour event that brings together designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and experts from all domains to collaborate and launch businesses into the market.

Held in Phnom Penh in past years, organizers, with the sponsorship of Cellcard, are bringing this entrepreneurship event to other urban cities in the Kingdom, starting with Siem Reap, which commences this weekend – May 29-31.

“We think that there are a lot of opportunities outside of Phnom Penh for Startup Weekend. There are many young individuals with interesting ideas for business, but without the guidance, support and network as resource, it’s difficult for these individuals to realize these ideas. Crowdsourcing initiatives are also being considered for innovative Startups that address un-met needs of Cambodian youth and/or the innovation/technology sectors. “There are a lot of opportunities for new innovative businesses in Cambodia, and we are happy to support the talented Cambodians in developing great ideas, making their own mark and uplifting the consumer market with new products and services that address un-met needs, especially in the realm of innovation and technology. Startup Weekend Siem Reap is from May 29-31. Event starts at 6:30PM at The 1961 Coworking and Art Space. 211 Osaphear Street (River Road) Phum Treang, Slorkram Commune Siem Reap. Oko Davaasuren, Regional Director at Up Global from Mongolia has organized a workshop on innovative business design tools and strategies and focus on the use of the Business Model Canvas. Other mentors include Jeppe Mariager-Lam, founder of Jeppe Mariager-Lam Software Solutions, Sopheakmonkol Sok, Co-Founder and CEO at Codingate, Akira Morita, resident Innovation Design Consultant at Development Innovations, a USAID-funded initiative in the field of social change in Cambodia.
