cellcard Joins the Royal Government in Taking a Bold Step Toward 5Gx Network

Phnom Penh: On the morning of December 5, 2025, there was an official announcement of the 5Gx mobile service, which is scheduled to begin operations in January 2026, during the opening ceremony of the Digital Government Forum 2025 and the Digital Technology Exhibition under the theme “Accelerating the Digital Future: Governance, Growth, and Global Partnership,” presided over by H.E. Vongsey Vissoth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, representing Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The 5Gx network will transform Cambodia’s digital infrastructure by providing faster internet compared to the 4G network. 5Gx network is designed for the Cambodian people, offering users a completely new era of connectivity experiences—from work, education, business, and entertainment to everyday.

 

cellcard, a local digital telecommunications company providing extensive mobile services in Cambodia, has launched the trial testing of the 5Gx network at its booth to prepare for offering Cambodian people a new era of innovation and enhanced digital connectivity in Cambodia.

Neak Oknha Kith Meng, Chairman and CEO of Royal Group of Companies, joined government leaders and other telecommunications companies in launching the 5Gx network and stated: “As a Cambodian company, cellcard is firmly committed and ensures that Cambodian people will enjoy seamless access to modern communication technology that meets global standards. The launch of the 5Gx network is not only the next step in advancing technology for Cambodia, but this new milestone represents our commitment to achieving a shared vision of bringing true digital independence to the country.”

 

The rollout of the 5Gx network will be carried out gradually in Phnom Penh, Takhmao City, and several key provinces first, with plans to expand coverage to other provinces as network infrastructure continues to develop. This expansion of the 5Gx network to multiple areas will further strengthen Cambodia’s potential for digital innovation, taking it to a more prominent level.

 

Mr. Yap Kok Leong, CEO of cellcard, further stated “With the 5Gx network, Cambodian people will be able to work, study, conduct business, and use various services faster and more efficiently than ever before. This development will drive our nation toward a new era of digital transformation.”
