Cellcard is proud to announce its partnership with highly respected organisation Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdH-NL) which launched its latest campaign “Protect the children, protect the future” in Siem Reap on Saturday (Oct 24).

The campaign was launched at a joint press conference held at the Siem Reap Pacific Hotel coinciding with the TdH-NL Annual Cluster Event attended by 35 of their youth leaders and more than 200 children from surrounding schools and clubs.

A key objective of the two-day gathering was to increase the children’s digital skills including how to create content on the issues they are facing and navigate social media to positively influence others.

Cellcard Chief Executive Officer Ian Watson said Cellcard’s Marketing Team was happy to share their expertise and support the children and youth leaders on digital skills development as well as raise awareness of the child safety campaign nationwide.

Mr Watson said the initiative aligned to Cellcard’s wider remit to help improve digital literacy as part of Royal Group Chairman Neak Oknha Kith Meng’s vision for a fully digitalised Cambodia.

He said two of Cellcard’s leading talents, Suzana Reth and Bunleng, were supporting the initiative by hosting instructional webinars on content creation and social media management.

“Both talents have one million-plus followers online, making them great role models for the students,” Mr Watson said.

“As Cambodia’s Proudly Khmer operator, we advocate for the safety of children as part of our role in supporting our communities nationwide.

“Equipping students with the digital skills needed to stay safe online is one way we can help, and we encourage teachers, parents, and community leaders to support and follow the campaign.”

“In the name of our participants, we would like to thank Cellcard. Engaging with the private sector is a very important step to win our fight for children’s rights.” said Heng Puthika, awareness raising specialist at TdH-NL.

Cellcard will also provide free SIM cards and Cellcard 4U plans for the 35 team leaders who coordinate TdH-NL efforts across ten locations.

To mark the launch of the “Protect the children, protect the future” campaign, TdH has launched a new Facebook page.

The page features the campaign logo created to symbolise the community joining hands to provide a protective shield for Cambodian children, thus empowering them to have the bright and promising futures they deserve.

Terre des Hommes Netherlands is a leading child protection NGO which has been operating in Cambodia since 2007. Its projects focus on preventing and responding to offline and online child sexual exploitation and child marriage. The Non-Governmental Organisation collaborates with the government, local organisations, schools, and communities to raise awareness about children’s rights and the risks of child exploitation. tdh.nl
