Preah Vihea, December 8, 2018:Cellcard further strengthens its role in youth football with the opening ceremony tomorrow (Dec 8) of the Championships League of the School of Football Talent.

In partnership with the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), the opening ceremony will be held from 1- 4pm at the Chea Sim Tbaeng Meanchey High School in Preah Vihea province.

More than 1000 people has attended the ceremony including the General Sao Sokha, president of the Federation, Cellcard, students, the media and special guest performers Brand Ambassadors Suzanna and Tey.

Cellcard’s long-term partnership with the FFC has seen the program include 25 schools across all provinces directly benefiting more than 1500 young students.

The program is aimed at discovering young football talent to be trained in time for the 2023 South East Asian Games.

Cellcard Chief Executive Officer Ian Watson said the football partnership was a great step forward in forming closer relationships with schools and communities, and will see his team working to help discover young talent.

“As the only Cambodian-owned telecom operator in the country, Cellcard is the right partner for the program which provides a social outlet for the students, encourages healthy living,  promotes a sport that inspires the nation and stay away from drug,”Mr Watson said.

“We are proudly Khmer and happy to help build interest and talent in the sport and hopefully see Cambodia as a nation outperform our neighbours in competitive tournaments such as the SEA Games.”
